Nalgenes and New Starts.

My Nalgene is one of my 'trusted' friends. It's been through a lot; being dropped off of buildings, run over by trucks, thrown in mud, used as a rolling pin and a hammer. It's traveled to six different countries with me, been used as a foot warmer, has been lost multiple times.
My lovely, trustworthy Nalgene

The gist of what I want to say about it, is that I love it!

But, there's one major problem with it and that is that it doesn't get washed very much. Gross, I know!

(This may be a warning for all of you who think about drinking out of my water bottle... it may not be a great idea

Time seems to just slip by. I keep meaning to get it washed, but things keep coming up; other more pressing matters. Or I just plain forget about it. There it is, filled back up, thrown into my backpack, taken on another errand or adventure, being used, grime building up... and still not being cleaned.

Honestly, this is what it's like in my life... there's a voice in my head that says, "Keep working, keep going, keep pushing on, keep busy, keep distracted. Suppress the fact that you need to be washed, cleaned, scrubbed out. You can continue without the cleaning of God"

This is a lie.

There's a build up of grime from frustrations, guilt, pain, confusion, insecurities, busyness, exhaustion and many other crazy things that separate me from God.

It can stop NOW! Jesus says to me, "Come to Me, [you] who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." (Matt 11:28) I can be cleaned by giving control back to God. Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. (Ps 51:7) PTL on that!

It's a new school year and new beginnings. I shall be cleaned.

Are you putting off being cleaned?
